‘Excellente, singulière par sa finesse et sa délicatesse’, is the meaning of the word ‘exquisite’ that inspired Gucci‘s Fall/Winter 2022 collection, and gave its name: Exquisite Gucci.
A journey of discovery of refinement, led by Thomas de Kluyver, Global Makeup Consultant for Gucci Beauty, who created the beauty looks for the show in synergy with Alessandro Michele. For the latter, clothing is a tool to reflect one’s image and transform it into something else, and for Thomas, makeup is the ultimate accessory that completes the look and expresses one’s personality.
“It’s kind of like a fashion accessory, like a bag or a clip that you put in your hair: makeup is a defining element of the look, and I think it’s a fundamental element of Gucci,” Thomas explains. “Deciding how to use it for a fashion show, is an exciting creative process, because Alessandro Michele understands beauty deeply and loves it very much, and is open to trying all kinds of looks.”
Which for Exquisite Gucci is “playful, fun, unconstrained, and not a classic thing.” Divided into six completely different looks, with blue and black crystals around the eyes, silver and green leaves on the eyelids instead of eyeshadow, strands of unusually placed false lashes and dark blue lips, the makeup is “a way of saying yourself and your own identity.”
